Over in La Crosse, we have some GREAT neighbors, and one of them we want to give a major shout out to today. Holmen Locker and Meat Market in Holmen, WI has been selling award-winning specialty meats for over seven decades, and it’s the ONLY place Dallas buys his bacon.
We got to chat with the owner Scott, who purchased Holmen Meat Locker in 1996 with his wife Lauri. Scott Stettler has almost a lifetime of experience in the meat trade, starting at just 15 years old and moving on to an apprenticeship in the 1970s and eventually fulfilling the dream of owning his own meat market.
Holmen Locker and Meat Market is an awesome niche market that covers all the bases. They’ve got fresh cuts of beef and pork and make their own beef and pork sticks in-house including BBQ, honey, spicy habanero and a mild for those midwest mouth folks. They have homemade jerky, or smoked beef, and have everything from the classic pepper, to Scott’s favorite the sweet-hot smoked beef.
A great neighbor is one who loves and cares for their community. Scott bought this market 24 years ago but has stayed because of the community. They bring joy, and delicious meats and cheeses, to everyone in the La Crosse/Holmen area, and that makes them a great neighbor. If you find yourself in the La Crosse area be sure to stop in! Holmen Locker and Meat Market are open M-F 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays 9 am to 3 pm, and they are CLOSED Sundays.
